AHMI Issue Briefs

Information about the Appalachian hardwood industry.

1. Develop timely Appalachian hardwood promotion projects and materials to increase the visibility of the Appalachian name and promote inherent quality advantages.

2. Investigate and encourage new markets for Appalachian products, and expansion of existing markets.

3. Increase members visibility at a grassroots community level to enhance communications of positive environmental aspects of forest utilization, and the Appalachian hardwood industry in general.

4. Strengthen our relationships with other forest industry associations to achieve cooperative goals.

5. Increase the dissemination and influence of our promotional materials, including our newsletter and press releases.

6. Monitor and comment on federal and state regulations and policies with regards to forest resource concerns.

7. Encourage and promote more profitable and efficient production and distribution techniques, including the encouragement of and support for industry personnel training schools.

8. Increase membership to better represent the entire Appalachian territory, and provide adequate funding for the an expanding program of activities.
